Attendance

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow

Consistent school attendance, 95% or more, is one of the strongest predictors of academic and life success. When students attend school regularly, they stay connected to their peers, build strong relationships with trusted adults, and engage in the daily learning activities that build skills and confidence over time.

When an absence is unavoidable, notify the school before 9:00 am on the day of the absence.

Regular attendance is an important piece of succeeding in school.
Please use one of the following to report a student absence.

Call: 701-446-3000
Email: SDAattendance@fargo.k12.nd.us

Absence and Re-entry Procedures
Parents/guardians are asked to notify the attendance office by phone/email every day of a student’s absence, prior to 9:00am if possible.   If phone or email contact has not been made with attendance, the student must bring a note to the attendance office from the parent or guardian containing the following information:

  1. Student name/grade
  2. Absence date(s) and time
  3. Absence reason
  4. Parent phone number
  5. Parent/guardian signature

Any absence not verified by phone, note, or email will be considered unexcused. Student absences may be called in to the Self-Directed Academy office at 701-446-3000.

If you know in advance that your student will be absent, send a signed note with the absence information. For a family vacation a note needs to be turned into the Self-Directed Academy school office prior to the absence. Homework arrangements should be made prior to the absence.

Heading to school!
What should I know?

A day of missed school is a lost opportunity for skill development. By coming to school every day they're not sick, your child is gaining life skills:

  • Collaboration
  • Problem Solving
